1290 KTM Super Duke R, we have been talking about the presentation of the prototype – dubbed the Beast internally – at the EICMA 2012. Remained as to whether, on the production version, the Austrians would push the envelope as far as their show bike.
180 horsepower to 189 kg!
With a new V-twin 75 ° 1 301 cm3 developing 180 hp. at 8870 rev / min and a maximum torque of 144 Nm maximum torque – and more than 100 Nm at 2500 r / min – for only 189 kg (without fuel) 1290 KTM Super Duke R is able to accelerate from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.2 seconds in the free world!
To contain the heat of the machine, KTM was first concocted a chassis worthy of a superbike: new trellis frame CroMo steel tubes, 48 mm fork and WP shock, swingarm swing lightweight and – most importantly – two Brembo monobloc radial calipers biting M50 320 mm discs at the front.

1290 KTM Superduke R is an amazing product because it filled more than its simple villain roadster. A power of its engine, it adds an easy and seamless chassis and comfortable even if we refer to the standards of the genre. And the addition of driver aids makes not only drivable but mostly usable by ordinary people.
The approach KTM (and other manufacturers that will soon reveal too hyper roadsters) is a flawless logic: the niche sport is on the decline and the trend is unlikely to reverse. Too radical a daily basis, rarely seen exploitable to the increase in traffic and traffic enforcement. The R Superduke1290 therefore place more livable recent alternative, while still able to go kick a time on the track.
