In Japanese culture, make it more attractive means something to add a touch of elegance and is exactly what offers the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP to denizens of track days: the “control”, but with a sophisticated touch of elegance.
The suspension is Ohlins fully adjustable (NIX30 fork with 43 mm stanchions and shock TTX36) and the front braking system is equipped with Brembo Monobloc calipers 4-piston calipers. Therefore, it was modified in some detail the frame and fork plates are dedicated. The twin-spar frame in die-cast aluminum CBR1000RR Fireblade S P is based on that used for the standard model, modified in some detail in order to maximize the performance of Öhlins suspension. In particular, the area of attachment of the rear suspension has been optimized in terms of balance between rigidity and flexibility in order to respond adequately to the performance of the shock absorber offering plenty of feel and traction.
The Öhlins fork blades has an outside diameter of 55 mm (1 mm more than the Showa units) and new triple clamps utilize a steel sleeve instead of aluminum. The top plate is also obtained for high-precision CNC machining and provides a larger contact surface with fork sliders, improving rigidity.
As standard on the CBR1000RR Fireblade, the aluminum swingarm Gullwing takes advantage of the architecture derived Unit Pro-Link MotoGP experience. The inclination of the steering tube is equal to 23 ° 30 ‘and provides a trail of 96 mm for a wheelbase of 1,410 mm. The mass in running order with a full fuel is 199 kg with a weight distribution front / rear 52.7% / 47.3%.
To effectively respond to the reactions of the steering during sporty driving, there is the well-known Electronic Steering Damper HESD (Honda Electronic Steering Damper) second generation, which monitors the speed and adjusts the damping force accordingly. The CBR1000RR Fireblade SP has the same aggressive riding position of the standard version to offer superior control in circuit driving and be able to take advantage of the improved performance of the engine and chassis. Compared to the 2013 model the footrests are set back of 10 mm and the handlebars are wider: 1 ° downwards and 5 ° forward. Having to support only the weight of the rider, the new rear seat has been reduced and is devoid of the passenger footrests. The saddle is lined with a material more durable. Öhlins engineers have collaborated with the design team and Honda testing at all stages of development. Fully adjustable 43 mm inverted fork and shock have therefore been developed specifically for the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP to provide perfectly balanced overall performance and a greater potential of any circuit.
The lightweight cast aluminum wheels in 12-spoke maintain the standard sizes of 17 x 3.50 x 6.00 inch front and 17 inches at the rear, with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires in sizes 190/50ZR17 and 120/70-ZR17 ideal for use on the track thanks to the exceptional performance in extreme driving but at the same time approved for use on the road where they provide a rapid heating and excellent adhesion.
The four-piston Brembo monoblock calipers were chosen according to the performance of Öhlins forks to achieve the best combination between their performance. The compact body houses-piston aluminum monobloc specifically designed for the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, and push pellets of a material designed to provide a consistent response and safe during the most abrupt detached at high speed.
For the Italian market the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is only available in the version with traditional braking system, while the model is also offered in standard and C-ABS version. The images show in each case both systems equipped with electronic anti-lock system.

The “flushing” of the head, made through sophisticated computerized procedures on test bench flows, has dramatically improved the quality and quantity of the air flow at high engine speeds, when the air resistance increases exponentially: the result is a greater combustion efficiency and an improvement of the absolute power. Even the valve seats have been revised to adapt to the changes made to the cylinder head and intake ducts are now cut at an angle, a design used by Honda World Superbike Team.
Regarding the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, a special procedure is performed once at maximizing the balancing of the engine. During its assembly are carefully chosen the connecting rods and pistons to ensure that their mutual weight is maintained in a predetermined range around an intermediate value. In practice, for each group of pistons and connecting rods are weighed the individual elements so that their weight is possible corresponding to the average tolerance and reciprocal. The objective is clear: to maximize the balancing of the engine, especially at high engine speeds that can be achieved in circuit.
The measures bore and stroke are unchanged at 76 x 55.1 mm, as well as the compression ratio of 12,3:1. The treatment of the walls of the cylinders with nickel-silicon carbide (Ni-SiC) reduces friction and ensures maximum reliability. The diameter of the collectors drops from 38 to 35 mm and a new tube vertical compensation balance the pressure between the cylinders two and three. The engine is now more powerful, with a peak of 133 kW (181 hp) at 12,250 rev / min (+250 rev / min) and a peak torque remains at 114 Nm at 10,500 rpm / min, but with a ‘ most vigorous supply between 4,000 and 6,000 rev / min. The integrated high efficiency catalyst has a larger volume and also thanks to the oxygen sensor, the controller optimizes the rev of the mix for maximum combustion efficiency.
As always, the usability of such a powerful engine is as important as maximum performance, and to achieve it is necessary to optimize the engine response to the partial opening of the butterfly valves. For this reason, the Honda engineers have taken on the set-up of the system of dual sequential electronic injection PGM-DSFI (Programmed Dual Sequential Fuel Injection system).
The controller has been completely remapped, not only to accommodate the more powerful engine, but also to offer more substantial and precise dispensing, even at low speeds and at low speeds. With openings of the throttle up to 25%, the system responds with PGM-DSFI proportional changes in the delivery of power and torque, perfect to get the optimal control when cornering at maximum inclination. When the opening of the throttle valve increases, changes in the yield gradually grow to offer a crisp response to pilot inputs, which can thus benefit from a better feeling on the rear tire of enjoying furious accelerations, however, remain fully controllable.

An ignition key from the new compact design ‘wave’, similar to that used for cars, offers increased security and reduces the risk of breakage. Also new is the cap of the fuel tank that uses a vent redesigned for better ventilation.
The CBR1000RR is equipped with a multifunction instrumentation with LCD panel which shows all the parameters of gear plus a series of additional information. The display shows in the foreground the tachometer linear bar.
Below it are the main numerical readouts: indicator report added, coolant temperature, tachometer, clock / stopwatch, speedo / fuel / fuel efficiency, speedo / tachometer numbers. In the lower part of the display are located on the lights of functions such as flashing lights, neutral, turn signals, oil pressure, ABS and fuel reserve.
Clear and easy to read in all lighting conditions, the tachometer has four display modes: conventional, with increasing number of segments indicating the engine speed; reversed, with decreasing number of segments that indicate the range of laps remaining; peak , which means the engine in a conventional way but let marked the peak; single segment, which indicates the idle speed using a single segment, thus simulating the hand of an analog tachometer.
